The fib Symposium "Performance-based approaches for concrete structures" will be held in Cape Town from 21 to 23 November 2016.
On this occasion, several fib members will be giving keynote lectures. Prof. Jost Walraven (honorary president of the fib and COM9 deputy chair) will discuss the design of concrete structures according to the Model Code for Concrete structures 2010. Prof. Frank Dehn (Presidium member and COM4 chair) will examine performance-based approaches for mechanical concrete properties. Prof. Konrad Bergmeister (Head of Austrian delegation and convener to Task Group 2.8) will address safety and performance concepts for concrete structures. Dr. Christoph Müller (Task Group 7.5 member) will consider durability requirements for concrete, today and in the future.
Dr. Stuart Matthews (COM3 chair and Task Group 10.1 convener) will present a conference entitled "A new development in structural codes: towards a general code for both new and existing concrete structures". Prof. Petr Hajek (COM7 chair and convener to Task Group 7.1) will discuss sustainable concrete and sustainable concrete structures. Mr. Steinar Helland (COM4, 5, 8, and 9 member) will present a conference entitled: "Performance-based service life design in the 2020 version of the European concrete standards – Ambitions and challenges". Dr. David Fernández-Ordóñez (fib Secretary General and convener to Task Group 6.3) will address the performance of the structures with precast elements.
