Blind competition on the simulation of fibre reinforced concrete beams
A benchmark is being organized within the scope of the fib Working Group WG2.4.2 Modelling of Fibre Reinforced Concrete Structures.
The objective is to verify the performance of the models typically used to simulate the behaviour of fibre reinforced concrete. The response of a T-beam subjected to bending up to failure will be analysed.
Researchers are invited to participate in order to verify the performance of the models used in the simulation of the behaviour of fibre reinforced concrete (FRC). The object of the benchmark is to predict the behaviour of a T cross-section steel fibre reinforced concrete beam with conventional longitudinal (R/SFRC) and without conventional shear reinforcement in the shear span. After reception of participants' predictions, two twin R/SFRC beams will be tested up to their failure under a three-point loading configuration. The experimental tests will be carried out in the laboratory of the Structural Division of the Department of Civil Engineering of Minho University (LEST), on 9 March 2020, coinciding with celebration of the next meeting of the group, in order to obtain the experimental response and to compare it with the results of the numerical simulations.
